Answers to a few of the questions:
We are working on a plate and sheet metal product that will tie into our tubing assembly. Bend-Tech Plate is aimed at the home hobbyist and the small shop. The general concept is to provide a product that will take less than a couple of hours to learn and just a few hours to master.
BT-Plate includes a very easy-to-use 2d CAD package with surprising power. It has all of the general 2d CAD functions including; points, lines, arcs, dimensioning, text, title block and holes. Of course you can create any hole shape you would like, including hole shapes of round, square, rectangle, slots and ellipse. You will be able to create all of your plate parts, use it to help figure out numbers for tubing and draw out the deck for the back of your house.
BT-Plate will also allow the design of bent sheet metal parts. Instead of working in full 3d you will be working on each flange at a time. Design your base plate, select an edge to place a flange and then fill in the blanks for bend angle, direction, radius and bend deduction. The software will then allow you to work on the new flange using all of the powerful BT-Plate cad tools. In the upper corner you will see your "bent" 3d part as you are working on the 2d surface. Push one button and the software will give you the flat layout with bend deductions implied.
Now as if all that wasn't enough, you will be able to bring your parts into the assembly module of Bend-Tech and combine your parts together and with the tubing in your projects.
We are targeting this fall.
It will export dxf files.
The module will be available for PRO as well as SE.
Cost: we don't have a price nailed down at this time. We will be very fair with long time customers, recent customers and new customers. Because the target of this is a separate module, there will be no or very little advantage to a customer purchasing Bend-Tech after the release date versus today.

Awesome new product Cris. Once you're done with a bent up part, can the software generate a flattened pattern? Can you do multiple plates in an assembly to do things like diff covers and whatnot? Will it calculate the weight of the finished product? Mirroring of parts?
This could be very handy. It wont be the only product out there for this type of CAD, but if the past is any indication, it will be the best supported and most reasonable value to be had.
