alibre and cnc plasma

I am in the process of purchasing a 5x10 dynatorch cnc plasma, and I have a question about using alibre to design pieces to be cut out. Will I be able to use alibre to make a 3d model of a bumper then convert the drawings to 2d, and then send them to the cutting table. Also will alibre create files that the machine will recognize and be able to cut out or do I need some different program.

Thanks

Josh

Check with Alibre. You will need the Sheetmetal add on and the full CAM add on for sure.

Alibre

Dynatorch inputs dxf files most of them do. When you do the drawing in your cad save as a dxf then import into dynatorch cam.

You could look at plasma route also they run mach3 cam (non propriety) does plasma and routering and runs cand cnc electronics with thier torch height control. I have one (thc control) and it works awesome. Looks like a good table. I have a dyna cnc table Before they went under luckily I got one of the early ones with the better electronics and cand cnc thc before they started using the other stuff.

Bogger44,

You've done your homework with Dynatorch. Their tech support is 1st Class and they are continually up-dating their software.

Just to be the devils advocate, what about Torchmate? Been using mine for over 4 years and never been down. Mike is a 100% stand behind it kinda guy, just like Cris (Fabcam) when it comes to support and he replies fast with the right answer the first time. Product support is super important, so stick with some body who will help, Plasma Cam is cheap, but they sell support after the fact and it aint cheap. My 4X4 small shop from Torchmate was 7500, plus freight so it isnt too pricey either. Just my .02 though.
