86 toy

We decided to use these dies on an old project.
Standing around ing, staring at the truck thinkin "that skid plate needs some holes". The plates are 3/16 thick and some kind of aircraft alluminum. I told him this might screw it up but we tryed anyway It worked just fine in a 20 ton H frame press. No cracks or anything my untrained eye could see.

I was playing with mine this weekend just to make a sample of all 5 of my dies so that I know how much room I have to leave around the hole. The the wife say them and now I have to make a custom toothbrush holder. She likes how shiney they were. I love these and they will be getting a LOT of work soon. Now I really want the other sizes.

Just for reference .095 T6 aluminum can be done in a vise very easily and quickly. I used a Rotex to punch all the holes upto 2 in and I just hand filed the edge to take off the bur from the punch.

scootek, that second skid looks awesome. I like the first one too, just really like the second one. This is going to open up all kinds of stuff for you!

I will have to drive down your way one of these days for some dimple work. I think my bumper could use a three hole skid and a couple other pieces for garnish.

Keep up the great work!

Keith do you have a 1/2 die available? I bought the 5 piece set but I would really like a smaller one as well.

No, .75 is as small as they make......to go smaller you would need to get it from the Aeronautic industry.....I think you can find them on ebay...

I guess I need to spend more time on this site.....

I asked "Santa" for a set of the Lightspeed dies (the small set).... but didn't realize that you were a dealer for them. This might be one of those cases where I actually hope I don't get what I asked for.... Maybe then I can support the vendors here and save some money too....!!!!

Well....live and learn, I suppose.

From now on maybe I'll just ask here before I order anything new.....

You don't happen to sell Drill Doctors (bit sharpeners) or Longacre 4-Corner Scales....????

No on the drill doctors....That is even something I had to ask for Christmas last year....I use the heck out of it, they are great.

I just saw the 4-corner scales somewhere for a good price, I will have to try and remember where....

Oh man!!! You make me so jealous. Next thing you'll come out with is a new & improved POB bracket made from flared and formed sheet metal.

aahhaa, Im back!!! dorking around in the garage today I started have some flared hole with draws. Currently I don't have a press so I thought Id give the nut and bolt a try!!!

here is what I did it on http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/...6552#post16552

And here are a couple more pic's of the process, Just to show that you don't always need a press or maybe you found a new place to add a flared hole!!

Enjoy!

Since I got my flared hole dies last week I've been just itching to use them. So today I had the opportunity. It isn't anything really cool, and I'm not to sure about the hole sizes I chose, but I got to use them I guess it'll take a little time of using them to get an eye for what sizes look best together. Anyway here are some pics

Now that you have your first flared holes out of the way, you will be cranking stuff out....It is like any other tool...you will find how close to the edge, placement and techniques, the more you use them....good job!

I used my dimple dies to strengthen up my HF bead roller. I am planning to start another thread about it.

Hey all......Merry Christmas and all that.

Santa brought me the small set of dimple dies from Light Racing for Christmas..... 1.0", 1.5", 2.0" and 2.5". Isn't that set supposed to contain a 0.75" one also???

I don't want to be ungrateful, but I think somebody might have screwed Santa out of part of the order..... :)
