Well that is just plain cool! I've always hated the JD2 pointer. THe old school one, though bulkier, was far more reliable. I wonder why they changed it to a welding rod?!?!

I'm ordering a funky $8 one right now

thanx for sharing!

*edit*
BAH! looks like the scoundrels won't ship to Cananda. I'll have to search for one here, or find my old key-chain lazer pointer and mod it to work...

Ok.. now that ive worked with it.. it rocks, however the little magnets that it came with might need an upgrade too Hot Glueing a nickle sized one on and now it stays. The tip rotates so you can mount the "foot" anywhere on the die and adjust the beam to land dead on the degree marks.
This should be included in with JD2 benders for sure...
Glad ya'll liked it..

I will order one today... I have been upgrading my bender this weekend. Had to add a spot for the 1" die. And I had to take care of the main frame shifting. So hopefully I cured it.

Awesome find and great idea, my degree wheel has engraved degree marks. So I will have to wipe some white paint in there.

For Sapper & the rest of the Canadian folks, I picked up three of these laser pointers at my local Harbor Freight today. If you want one, PM me with your shipping info, and I'll hook you up.

The pointers were $7.99 each, and there will be a bit of shipping on top of that.

Freaking sweet! I'm ordering 6! No kidding either. HAHA

I want one for my bender, one for the horz. band saw, and 2 for each drill press. I saw a deal at the store that attaches to the column of a drill press and casts two intersecting lines on the table. The lines were adjustable so they would hit at the center of the drill bit. For 18 vs. 34 I can build a bracket to put them straight above the quill so they point straight down. This way the intersection won't move depending on material thickness.

Thanks for the sweet find, I've been looking for something like this for the band saw for months!
