Gooseneck hitch question.

Hi all-

So a few months ago, I swapped my my Chevy truck body for a Knapheid service body. I took the gooseneck hitch out with the swap.

Now I miss the gooseneck trailer. Can I reinstall the hitch? I was thinking about moving the mounting location more towards the rear of the axel. Is this even possible?

What else can I do to make sure I donít crush my service bed?

Steve

Based on what I have been told, buy a shop I trust:
The hitch CL locates 2-inches in-front of the truck rear axle.
The hitch itself should be as low as possible & clear the bed at all angles.

I have zero experience with the Goose and only limited experience with the 5th-wheel design.

Agreed on ball CL ahead of axle CL. I had a very long wheel base and had mine ~4" ahead of axle CenterLine. One ton dually with 3 foot frame extension.

Red face

All Service Bodies are not the same!

As long as the trailer Goose Neck has the clearance to clear the body when your jacked at 90 Degrees .

You don`t want to limit your ability to back into tight spots

Just what type of Hitch the mini 5th wheel ??

The old style where the trailer rides just on the ball mounted on the truck ??
