(From post # 171 above)... The 3/4" die is on backorder until the first week of January.

Yep... I called Specialty Products in Colorado (sorry, I didn't know to tell Santa about your shop until it was too late! ) and they said that the 3/4" had already been shipped in a separate package....

Then they mentioned something about being under like 2' of snow..... a likely story, I thought the UPS trucks were all 4WD out there???

Anyway, now that Christmas is over I am looking to do some "self purchases" and pick up some BendTech software, Drill Doctor....maybe even a POB bracket and one of those digital angle gauges... either the SmartTOOL one or the Bosch...???

One thing I find that helps with the planning of them is to do a test strip in some thin wall aluminum.

Mark and cut all your holes into this one test piece for each of the dies you have and then put them all in one piece. I find it helps when planning out your next projects to see just exactly how big that each die is and then if you want exactly 1" between flared holes (from the flare edge) it is easy to plan out a piece.

Wow, it looks like 1/4"....the flares on the back do not look at tall as usual....if its 1/4" thats impressive for the dies....

I see it now, is there a rolled edge on that part?

that is what is making it look thick in the photo....

Yup, I put it in the brake so it would be a 90. The reason it looks thick on the smaller part is because of the way its ground to fit the 1.25" tube at the angle that its at. I have no intentions of testing the dies past the recommended thickness.

In the February issue of 4 Wheel and Offroad on pages 86 & 87, covering their Premudder built, they claim to have flared 1/4" in fabbing new core support mounts. It's kinda hard to tell in the pics, but I'd say it's more likely 10ga. The build-up was done at Poly Performance and they used Light Racing dies. I assumed the 1/4" statement was a typo or something, although I'm curious if they actually did 1/4". Not that you'd need to flare material that thick.
