Project 1 Ton 4Runner

Here is the next victim, 93 4Runner, V6, 5 speed with 186,000 on the OD. Know im not a yota guy but there are a few things under this thing that don't look quit right. Hopefully I some one out there can give me a little insite on a few of the pic's I've taken.
Any way here is the plan, GM dana 60 up front and 14blt in the rear. I have a set of 39.5 swampers on bead locks but im thinking this might be a scoosh big for the little runner.

Kinda what I was thinking!

Any one done a full size SAS swap or seen one, what is the best choice of springs? Probably going to go leafs.

we use 4" lift BDS yj springs with 2 leafs removed. nice soft ride.

Check out Pirate's Toyota section for 100's of SAS's. I have drawings for the front leaf spring hangers somewhere... Lots of full width swaps in there too.

I've been looking at the Sky front hanger kit, as much as Id like to fab it up my self it would probably be cheaper and less time consuming to just purchase it.

back in the early eighties I took a datsun mini truck body and mounted it on a full size ford bronco had a 400 cc motor stock suspension and was able to run 44 in. ground hawgs I used to take it to azusa caynon (so. ca.) every sunday. every one puts axles under trucks but it is so much easier to just mount whatever body you have on to the frame of your choice way simpler.

Cool, I'm more of a chevy guy but i've learned that there a little on the heavy side when you get them built up real well. So ive decided to cross the two together, are you in the area?

I've finally made some head way today, off with the IFS and slid the 60 under just to see what it looks like. Still need to cut off all the brackets though.

Don't ask me why the calipers and dust sheilds are construction orange, they where that way when I got the axle!

Ok 1st ?
I hear putting rear springs on the front give pretty good flex, how long are they. I've already got 2" body lift about how much lift in my springs am I going to need to clear 40" tires.
2nd?
What are your thoughts on rear chevy 63" springs. does a 4runner have enought weight in the rear to make them work well? Just asking cause I have a set laying around, they worked good on the blazer I had but im dealing with a fraction of the vehical weight now!

the rears up front work really good . In the back i would use Rangers or s10.

Arn't you back yet? Hello back to ya Mel. Im still in debate about the rear, it's cheaper to just leaf spring it but the 5 link thats already there is a good start for a linked set up!

Spring perch measurement!

Need some help fella's, I need to know what the spring perch measurement on a stock yota to the axle tube is, like I have pictured. My dana 60 is 1.25" from the top of the tube to the top of the perch, trying to figure how much lift to run. If my measurement is quit a bit taller than a stock yota than Ill be able to use a smaller lift spring and make up the diffrence in the perch height.

the perch on my 85' toyota front axle is right at 9/16"

Sweet! Thanks MOCRAWLER, I dident want to go with a 5" lift spring and realize when everything was together I was actually at 6"

Teaser

Here is a teaser of what I have in the line up, hopefully ill get some time today to get the rest of those freaking IFS brackets cut off. I started a couple of days ago but when all you have is a 4" grinder and a sawlsall it makes for a slow process!
