electric nibbler

you chaps probably have a different name for it, but these little electric nibblers are one of my favourite tools for quickly and relatively quietly cutting aluminium or steel sheet, especially for curved bits.
We have one we hand hold, and a second the apprentice mounted to a stand on an old wheel and tyre. its not pretty, but it works well like that and sticks to the ground without vibrating or moving around.

Hi, i am jimmy ,A nibbler, or nibblers,is a tool for cutting sheet metal with minimal distortion. One type operates much like a punch and die, with a blade that moves in a linear fashion against a fixed die, removing small bits of metal and leaving a kerf approximately 6 mm wide. [/i][/b]

Thats pretty slick.

The only thing I didnt like about the nibbler that I used in the past is it cut out crescent shapes that were SUPER sharp and would stick into everything (hands, shoes) if you werent careful.

Well, I guess robots aren't all bad. This one brought this thread to juicedZ4s' attention. They've [spammers and robots] also brought up threads I would never have seen otherwise, so that's a positive.

PS; I like your apprentices initiative.

Agreed on the bot's usefulness in bumping threads. But they scare me, lol

LOL

I never thought to mount a nibbler for use like that seems foolish now. Thanks for the inspiration.

It is very easy to use like that, highly recommended - and cheap to do!
