2.5L Dodge to TDI swap?

Sorry this isn't a build but I've been looking for some information on TDI swaps, mostly general information. One thing that I found that may or may not be a myth is that an early 2.5L Dodge engine shares a bell housing bolt pattern with gasser vws which would also mean a TDI (AHU/1Z, ALH). If that is the case an ax15 from a dakota would also bolt up behind it (or use the bell housing for some other applicable asin trans), anyway the goal is a tdi, rear wheel drive drivetrain without adapters.

link 3, the only thing I could find on a 2.5L to tdi swap (sounds like it might have a vw trans?)

Does anyone have anymore solid information? Experience? Insight?

Thanks

I did a TDI swap into a 83 Toyota pickup. The toyota trans requires an adapter which I originally got from Acme adapters but as I found out it wasn't concentric engine to trans so i built another. As far as I am aware there isn't any trans that bolts directly to the tdi othe then VW. That said an adapter isn't that big of a deal.

You can look through my build herehttp://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/...ead.php?t=9418.

After looking through that if you still have questions I will do what I can to help out.

Jaysin

This is the only bellhousing that I have found to mate up to a VW TDI 4cly for rear wheel drive application.

yeah I've gone all through your build Jaysin and it's quite awesome, anyway in that first thread there is a post that said, "chrysler bought the VW block for use in the k car setups----vw stuff bolts in....the 2.5 dakota engine is a stroked out 1.6 vw engine...." Does anyone know if that is true? Post's 7 through 9

I did some research on the interwebs. Apparently the bell housing is very close but does NOT fit. This needs to be confirmed.
