I'm about to start building a truck/buggy for winch challenge events. I'm going to build it out of 50.8 CDS tube onto a landrover chassis I think I'm still not sure weather to build a complete tube chassis. What is the best way to weld the tube work? I've got a friend who is a welder by trade who has said that they will weld it for me.
There wouldn't be a significant difference in strength either way for CDS tube. MIG is going to be a little less sensitive to fit than TIG.
One thought is to MIG the bulk of it, then do critical stuff like mounting brackets with the TIG. TIG is nice because you don't get a large weld bead unless you need it, which is handy when clearances are tight.
