I am curious to see what plasma you are using and what thicknesses of material you have tried?

I use a thermal dynamics cutmaster 51. I have cut 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16 mild steel and 1/16, and 1/8 stainless using this table. When I was cutting by hand before the table I cut everything upto 3/4 in mild steel and 1/4 in 4130.
The cutter is old from what Ive heard, even its replacement Im told is discontinued. I will be trying thicker metals on this table as they become needed, and I have yet to do AL.

Sweet projects and glad to see you got things sorted out and it working. And you are right, that is some DAMN GOOD customer service. A person doesn't mind a few glitches in the product if you are going to get C/S like that. I just wish I could afford one

To all that use a machine like this, and those who have/would purchase parts cut with one. Im trying to see what fair prices are.
What would you charge/pay for a sign like or simmilar to this one.
It has 40 pierces
228 seconds of cut time
cut at 90 ipm
7 dollars in metal (16g cr)
tips are $4
paint was done for free on this one.(trying to get the biger order for the whole club.)
Its 12 x 23 inches
20 or 30 min on the computer.
1 free laugh watching the machine work.

Dont forget your utilities in the cost
$25-$30 seems about right for the size i think
Edit: I dont have a table

Thanks Rokcrler, I guess its a trade secret what everyone else charges.
I sold that one for 45 bucks.
Still have no real good consistant way to charge. I feal like a car salesman. What ever their willing to pay.
I know its not right but its not hard to sell this stuff.

what to charge
there is an old saying in business, and that is what ever the market will bear, if you quote before hand and the customer dose not flinch then the price is not bad. If they feel it is to high they will say that as well, along the lines of i will get back to you. It has always been the case good economy or not. Dont be afraid to charge what you think is justified or you will find yourself having a hard time paying the bills.

Scoot. you are doing the same kind of stuff I was doing before I got sick. I tried to figure what it cost me to do a full sheet and doubled it to cover labor and consumables. So if a sheet cost me 86.00 I tried to make sure I sold at least enough pieces to get back 175 or 180 extra. That covered the next sheet of material and I could make sure I had good consumables and clean dry air with fresh dessicant. Worked out pretty good for me doing it that way.

I'd say that $45.00 for that is a fair price.
The only pricing reference I can offer is this. For the laser cutting I have done, I pay .50 per hole, which is less than the average walkin guy would pay. Of course I am providing the dxf file. They have to take it from the programing on. I would say that a hole also would equate to a piercing.
You're doing some nice work Scoot.

Scootek ive been trying to get my boss to buy a torchmate for 5 years. Someone has him convinced that you have to have a 50-60-$70,000 machine with some ungodly sized plasma machine to get a good finished product. You my friend have just proved this to be untrue. I've got a feeling that even when I show him this thread that he still wont change his mind. I guess ill be stuck cutting paper patterns for the electric eye torch for another 5 years. Thanks for posting up all this good info. oh and nice work also.

I really like that set up! Very nice and clean. Your Powell/Peralta "Bones" sign brings back some fond memories!!!!
I will have to look into the cost of a machine like this. Not something I could swing now, but perhaps if things pick back up............ T
Keep up the great work! I need you to cut me a up a Jackalope for my vintage Fridge project! ;-)

Sounds like he has spent alot of money on other methods when he could have been making money with one of these machines. This machine would pay for itself fast.

Thats the "ripper" artwork just like you remember. Very famous, and still used today. I used to love it when it was animated on a video and he would tear through and laugh.
I would be happy to cut the jackalope. Send me a pic or PM me what you want.

Here's a direct link to the spreadsheet- it's not mine, just trying to help. Mediafire has a bunch of adds and popups, but the download works.

If you send me an email, I will attach the picture. I don't have your email address and it would not let me put attachment in personal message.
My email is grant@jackalopefab.com

Does that file spreadsheet work for everyone, I followed the link in PBB and when I downloaded it, it looked like a invoice only not the calc sheet that was posted earlier.
Just me?
Scootek, that stuff looks awesome to me. I think 45$ would be a good price but like you say it's pretty much what they will pay. Have you kept track of your income from the table alone, curious to your ROI.
