In simple terms... Yes it could be made into a 2 seater... But with down sides... And little gains.

The idea behind the buggy is to make it light. Adding a second seat adds a lot of weight over a single seat design. There fore your power to weight ratio is changed. Add to that by having a center engine and center driver setup it makes the buggy very stable. This is due to the fact that regardless of the drivers size (100lbs person or a 300 lbs person) the center of gravity will not change just the over all weight of the vehicle. With a 2 seater if you are only running one person all the weight is on one side. This throws the center of gravity to the drivers side and the handling characteristics along with it making it less stable on most situations. Depending on the passenger this can be balanced out but the likely hood of 2 180lbs people riding will be unlikely. For the purposes that this rig is built for, a single seater is the most efficient and functional.

Still looking good Ian.

here ya go...

He had to flip the axle housing to get the diff on the correct side, then rotated the knuckles to get 'em right side up again. Now, as you've mentioned, the thing'll try to go backwards when the front's trying to go forwards, so you take out the third, flip it over (right side up again), move a couple bolt holes/studs, and bolt it in. Except you can't cuz the housing had a bulge for the ring gear, so you cut off the pan, rotate it 180* and weld it back on. Reinstall the third and both axles are cooperating again.

Rockape, did I miss anything??? Oh yeah, and I tried to get his BendTech file a while ago and was denied... Ian, YOU SUCK!!!

yeah I get that, all of that, but the center diff inside the transaxle.. rockape welded his, but ian says hes got something good... I thinks it a pre-production spool/airlocker/lockright...

One major point you missed is that the seats would have to be moved up quite a bit to accomodate the front driveline.......there are 2 seat buggys that use this exact same layout but they cannot run with this design......Think very low COG....

Kinda but not exactly! If it works and isnt too spendy I will likely offer it as an option!!!

I can tell you it isnt an arb or selectable locker........

this engine can be found in honda civic and such which are used very often for drag racing they already have lockers and such for them . one I think would be cool to see is the Quaife ATB differential its not a full locker what it does though is most of the time it splits the power 50/50 between both tires (in this case both axles) but if one starts to loose traction it sends more power to the side with better traction. sounds to me like a differential like this would be good sending power to the axle (front or rear) that has better traction. my worry though would be that when climbing a ledge it would stop sending power to the one axle all together. guess it would have to be tried first!

The $800-1k price tag of a Quaife isn't too "low budget" when you have no clue if'n it'll work. Not sure, can you get those for the autos???

Nope.....no aftermarket support for the autos.......

And using a manual isnt even a question due to how the shifter works and how it would be an engineering nightmare to make work in this engine orientation......not to mention the miserable crawl ratio you would have with it......

Sorry for the thread jack Ian.........I do hope those wing window gussets (AKA Blinders!!!) are for keep'n the mud outta yer eyes!!!

Didn't think you could get 'em... knew about the shifter issue on manuals, unless you went H series, but then you still have no crawl ratio... REALLY curious what Ian's got in store for this one...

Ian, when's this show gonna air??? I have to watch it on the website cuz I'm too cheap/broke to have cable!
