Got a call from them today.....all remaining orders Went out the door today.....They had 15 sets coming last week and 25 sets this week, but all 40 sets got delivered today. This was news to me....everyone who does not have them should have them in 2 to 3 days and that includes orders place today......

Thanks for the support, I think we caught them off-guard with all interest and orders I sent them.....including the group buy 14 users on this board have bought the 5 piece set....so there better be some killer stuff being built!

Keith, did they ever mention why the site shows a pretty cadminum plated finish and they send out raw steel units? I am sure they are fine, but it is tough to advertise one thing and deliver another.
Just wondering.
Thanks.

They told me that the finish delivered is because of the hardening process, and since they switched to a new production company not having them polished before they are sent to the customers is what enables them to keep the price down.....Before their switch they where $100 more for this same set.

When mine arrive I am going to post pictures on the site of how they come and what you have to do to polish them up.....

They have just not updated their own site.......Once I get them in stock, I could offer a higher price if they want me to clean and Polish them.....

SmashMetal strikes again!!!!!!!!!!!
Since im still waiting for my tube notcher to show up i decided that i needed a pimp stand to put it on! So being resourceful with my flaring dies this is what i sculpted. It still needs some more work and a kick a$$ paint job but you'll get the idea.

I doubt polishing them would make them work any better-it would seem to just be an appearance thing. Definitely not worth $100 extra so I am glad they switched.

Once you get a set of these dies in your hands and start using them, the finish they have is going to be the last thing on your mind!
Besides if they did have a nice shiny finish or caduim the more you used them the more the finish would wear off!

Just got my stock in tonight, this batch looks real good the Black coating on them almost looks like Textured black paint.....I like it , I am going to leave it....

I tried a little steel wool on them and it does not want to come off that easy...I think I will take the angle grinder to one set with scotch wheel and then use the polisher....

Let me get right on that! Ha!

Actually, don't tell anybody but I am thinking about selling copies of my senior project report (including drawings of all the parts and a bill of materials) to help recoupe some of the costs. Think people would buy it? Not even sure what an appropriate price would be on that...

Thanks keith. I am definitely keeping you in mind. Post graduation I should actually have some money coming in and I'll be needing more dies, a notcher, flared hole dies, etc. Can't think of a better place to get 'em!

People sell plans all the time on the EBay for trailer and a lot of other things. List ten auctions @ 9.99 buy it now and then ship them the drawings.

Good idea actually....

That's why you get with a friend who's a lawyer and write up a "quick" and "simple" clause that clears you from all liability. I am sure you could sell plans to some of the guys over on practicalmachinist.com Those fellas are into serious machining and make these with their high end tools. They are also the type that like complicated projects with multiple working parts..--Grant

That sounds like a possibility, but it will be a while before I decide if I want to sell my ideas or not. We shall see.

Anyway, enough thread hijacking, let's see some more flared die holes! I bet B-Rad makes some sweet stuff with his. Keith, when are you gonna make something?
