MD Cobra Build - Make a Wish

I copied the following information from the project web-site: http://www.mdcobrabuild.com/index.html

THE DESERT RAT

Hi my name is Phil Hunt and we are building a custom 1965 Cobra replica to sale on eBay. All profits will be donated to childern with Muscular Dystrophy and the Make a Wish Foundation. This car should bring 30-50k and will help several children do something they would never have the chance to do.
The car is a 1965 Cobra replica. I have made the inital investment for the kit and will probably invest another 300 hours of labor on this car. We will be rounding up and rebuilding all of the necessary components and will being building in April 2006. We plan to finish the car by the end of 2007.
I am looking for people/Business' to volunteer time, materials, parts and/or cash to help with the following:
  1. We need a powder coating company to powder coat several parts.
  2. We need a polishing company to polish several aluminum parts.
  3. We need to build a rollbar for it.
  4. We need help with the body work/fiberglass.
  5. We need a good paint job.
  6. We need a machine shop to rebuild a 1990 5.0 engine.
  7. We need a spray on bed liner shop to spray the underside of the body.
  8. We need new gauges/complete set must be new!
  9. We need suspension components.
  10. I am sure I will be needing a lot more but these are the main things we need to get her started.

If you have something not on the list that we can use, or if you are willing to donate any of these parts, materials, services please e-mail me @ p.hunt@comcast.net. Or if you are willing to donate your time and experience in paint, body, or to help build the frame/rollbar I will transport the car anywhere in California/Oregon and will work along with you or you can come to my home and work in my garage I will provide pizza and beer/soda and possible gas money if you really need it!

This project means alot to me, I found out my son has Muscular Dystrophy 5 years ago and I have been around several families and have first hand experence of the problems and hardships these families go through.

Thank you Fabcam I really appriciate your help! And sponsorship!
This to is my all time favorite car, it is going to be real hard to just let her go!
But I will do one for myself one day and I have a Corvette to tide me over.

Anyone who wants to participate is wellcome we are in the Sacramento California area but I will travel a good distance to get some of the big ticket items completed. My wife also builds web sites so any busisness owners who helps us out we can build you a custom site and maintain it for you free of charge!

I have decided to be a sponsor of this project build. Phil and his team is set on making this happen and I believe we can help him. I have asked Phil to give us updates as the project continues along. The official start date is April of this year. If you see something on or off of his list you can help with let us know. This looks like it could be a long build, but with our help maybe we can give it good kick in the a$$ and "get-r-done".

This is a great idea. I wish you the best of luck.

I can powder coat small parts for the project. If you do not have someone lined up for that type of service yet, Tolly Fabrications would like to donate some powder coating work.

If there is something small I can do, I would love to help.
As for the fiberglass work....A great place to look is a place that works on boats.
Most body shops hate fiberglass..Boat repair places deal with this stuff every day

I'd like to be involved in this project as I to love this car and it's a awesome cause! Do you know what size tubing they use for the roll bar on these? I'd guess 2 inch, but I'm not sure. At this point I'm not in a position where I can afford the tooling for 2 inch, but I have 1.75 (don't think that would look right). If there is anything I can do to help let me know.

If this is still happening, I can provide what I can to help.
I do paint/body/chassis work. I have a friend here in Phx that does fiberglass repair, and if that body needs it, I am sure I can get him to donate his time, and I can easily donate my time and supplies to get it painted. What color?

Also I am friends with several machine shops out here, and gettin that 5.0 rebuilt would be easily handled.

Also if needed, I have an uncle that owns one of these, and I could take pics of his car for the build up of this one.
