Going from a VW motor to a Toyota engine need help

Is there a trans that i can get to put in my sand rail that will hook up to the engine that is NOT a VW trans?

From: VW Transaxle / VW Engine. To: ‘Something’ / VW Engine

I’m not anything close to expert here: Isn’t the VW diff and transmission one piece as in a Transaxle?

First Gen Toyota Tercel was a front wheel drive longitudinal transmission. It would work, if you can find a reverse cut gear for it.
