Welding Critique

How do these look? I keep making small adjustments to the settings, but I never really get the sizzle sound. aka bacon frying.

Welder is a Eastwood Mig 175.

...sitting here, drinking a cup-a-Joe, for the most part things look acceptable,
but it also looks like there is a slight bit of under-cutting which could be
heat or wire or hand technique... I'd try bringing the wire speed up a little and
see if that gets you into the bacon.

I would start by removing the rust and making sure the metal is clean. You will see a difference for sure. Are you dragging the gun in a straight line? If so practice on making a C pattern remembering to stay on the front edge of the puddle.

If you leave the voltage alone slowing turn up the wire speed till it bounces off the puddle.

then slowly back off to it quits

Those welds are just a little on the to hot side either voltage to high or wire speed to slow

I really never hear the frying bacon unless it is someone else

I always wear ear plugs one spark hitting my ear lobe was enough

Then just what size wire are you running .023 ??

Always grind to shiny metal before welding, and have a good ground. I too noticed a little undercut on the edges. New welders tend to look at the light but always look at the puddle forming just behind and to the sides to make sure its filling in.
