Dude you know theres like a 99% chance that your files can be recovered right? I've done it several times on crashed hard drives for friends to get their pictures and important stuff back. I'd volunteer but I'm sure you're not gonna send all your designs to joe schmo from idaho, Hahah.. But I'm sure theres gotta be a local computer specialist in your area that is capable of recovering your files. Definitely worth looking into, it would suck to lose all that work.

It was my fault when I had them recover the computer I forgot to mention that the bend tech files were not in the same place as all my other stuff. they were able to save everything else, but formatted the other stuff away.
I am now an avid fan of "backing up" and have external hard drives for all my machines. |
there are also services available for remote back up.
Ian, I'm a big fan of having 2 backups. And keeping 1 of the backups in a different place in the house. I'm not as paranoid as 1 of my friends though. I keep a backup external for him at my house...
use a backup like carbonite. Its offsite and also can access it from other machines or smart phones if you need to look something up remotely.
Drivesavers can usually get a large amount of data back if the drive hasn't been overwritten too many times. A good backup strategy is best but they have delivered a for some big issues in the past.
